After distributing jalebis, he cleaned himself as if nothing had happened. He was, again and again, burping as he was full. He had to have dinner otherwise his deed would have been caught.

That day, he could not sleep because of the stomach ache. He mocked at himself that if he had swallowed too much of jalebis, his words would come out as jalebis.

Next morning was a refreshing and normal one. He picked up his chalk and slate. He pacified himself by saying that he would repay the fee by the scholarship amount. He generally get on scheduled time.

However, he was shocked when he learned that his scholarship would be paid in the following month. Later the teacher declared he would collect the fee amount in the recess.

Burdened with his guilt, he picked up his bag and moved out of the school. He was depressed and prayed to God as he knew that God could be his savior and only hope. He promised that he would never eat jalebis. Lost in his thoughts he reached the point where the Kambelpur railway station began.

His elders had warned him never to cross the railway tracks. He sat under a tree and was remorseful because he had violated the commands of elders. He was almost on the verge of a breakdown.

He prayed to God and admitted his mistake. Tired and hopeless he left for home. On the way jalebiwala again asked him for jalebi. But he moved on quietly. Next day, instead of going to school, he sat under the same tree at the railway station.

He pleaded to God to send him a coin but he was apprehensive too. He wanted God to hide the money under a stone. He took the last chance and reached the stone and found a worm under it.

He thought that he would pray harder or decided to make a deal with him. When he reached home, his absence from school was revealed to his family. He kept on wondering why Allah did not help him. Until he was in class seventh or eighth standard; he realized the truth and became rational in approach.

But the logic failed, his other mind spoke about fresh jalebis that are meant to be eaten and only money could buy it for him.

However, his honesty and obedience to his elders contradict the temptation and the voice of coins. He reprimanded coins and said that looking at things was not good because he was getting so much at home.

Secondly it was his fees he couldn’t spend it on other things. He feared God. Thirdly the teacher might punish him severely without any considerations.

The coins disliked his logics and hesitations. He got conscious as the coins were making noise by rustling with each other. He held them tightly. After a few steps, he loosened his grip.

One coin complained that he was strangulating them for speaking in his favour. It advised him to pay the fee amount by the scholarship amount that he was going to get every month.

The coin reteriated that Jalebis are delicacies full of sweet syrup, on listening to that, the boy was tempted for some time. Then he recalled his elegance and prestige he had earned in his school.

He won a scholarship four rupees a month and his family was the respectable one. He did not want to be punished for jalebis, so again his head won over his heart.

He reached his home and ate well. But surrendering to his home and ate well. But surrendering to his temptation, he ran towards the bazaar and bought jalebis of one rupee. The halwai gave him a packet of jalebis wrapped in a newspaper.

Bepin Choudhary went to new market at Kalicharan to buy books as he was fond of reading. Bepin lived alone so he read about five books in a week. One day he met a man who pretended to be an acquaintance.

Bepin was not sure so he asked him if they had met before. Then the man told him that he had arranged a car to take him that he was Parimal Ghose whom he met in Ranchi in 1958.

Bepin knew that the man must have mistaken him for someone else as he always wanted to go to Ranchi but couldn’t make it. The man called him by his name yet Bepin wasn’t convinced.

Parimal tried to convince him by narrating some incidents. He told him that he fell in Hudroo and hurt his knee. He arranged a car but he couldn’t go because of the pain.

He told Bepin Babu that he stayed with Mr. Dinesh Mukerji as he didn’t like hotel. He further added about his argument about the moon landing and his habit of carrying a bag filled with books while going for sightseeing.

Bepin wasn’t convinced at all. He was sure that he had spent his Puja in Oct’ 1958 with a friend in Kanpur. He then revealed his family details to which he claimed that Bepin had himself told him. Yet Bepin Babu paid no need to his talks. Parimal was surprised at his response.

Bepin reached Ranchi, where nothing was familiar to him. He then left for Hudroo as he didn’t want to give up after reaching so far. At 5’0 clock, he was lying unconscious near a boulder.

When he regained his consciousness, he was murmuring about his hopelessness. On reaching Calcutta, he gave up losing all hopes to get well.

He called for Dr. Chanda for his treatment. While he was waiting for him, after taking a bath, his servant came with an envelope, ‘urgent and confidential’ was written over it, so impatiently he opened it.

It was sent by Chunni Lai his friend, who was seeking his help in finding him a suitable job. He was in anguish with Bepin for not helping him in his difficult times.

So he manipulated everything with his imagination to teach him a lesson. He wrote a novel, which was very likely to be considered by a publisher.

Realizing the folly of Chunni Lai, Bepin came into senses. He asked the doctor to give him a painkiller for he had a fall in Ranchi.

The Britishers ruled over the country as their roots went deep down through the East India Company. They were heading throughout the entire nation from Calcutta.

However, the Indian Princess was deaf and short (sighted) about the encroachment of the Britishers. They asked favor of English Merchant to defeat other princely states.

Enmity amongst princely states helped the Britishers to spread their wings. Tipu Sultan of Mysore challenged the Britishers until his last breath for the nation. There was unrest amongst common people.

The people were too submissive. So the Britishers forced them to buy manufactured goods made from England. That curbed the Indian cottage and small scale industries. They were ruined to the extreme.

The social movement started when Raja Ram Mohan Roy initiated an awareness program. He genuinely felt the faith in ancient culture. He worked against superstition and in favour of strengthening the culture.

His love for science and modem knowledge reflects through his speeches. He started the newspaper. He went to England to assess the strength of Britishers. He made them aware of their duties as they subjugated Indians.

This was the phase of oppression. In 1818, Britishers had passed the Third Regulation Act. Under it, an Indian could be jailed without a trial. Britishers were getting powerful and were flourishing through businesses.

Britishers forcefully exported goods from Britain worth seven crores by the year 1829. This led to the closing of f Indian industries. Indian weavers lost their livelihood and it was getting difficult for them to sustain against the cheap option.

In 1835, Lord Macaulay suggested bringing changes in the education system of India. They tried to replace with the English language because they realized that they need Indians to do the petty job for them.

As a result of it, a conscientious intellectual class emerged and wanted education for fellow countrymen. They were also aware of the pathetic condition, so they felt the need to represent the reality before the rulers.

It was 1856, when the Britishers conquered the whole of India. Indian social system was at its lowest. Jobs, lands, religion pursuing once faith, all these were snatched by them.

The spark talks about an era when the peasant lost their patience. They had to pay heavy taxes and were devoid of land. In 1855, the Santhalas felt oppressed because of new land rules.

They massacred Europeans and their supporters. Army men faced discrimination too in promotions and salary. So they were getting i disconcerted too. They wanted to uproot the British rule.

The uniforms of rebellious sepoy were stripped off disrespectfully. Britishers were callous towards the faiths of Indians. Irrespective of caste or religions, they decided to get united to take revenge.

They sent the message of rebellious attributes by sending chapattis and circulating lotus flowers. Emperor and patriots took steps to take revenge.

The first freedom movement started in 1857 in Meerut. Britishers called it a mutiny. It took a violent turn in Meerut, then the fire of sepoy marched towards Delhi under the aegis of Bahadur Shah.

The movement reached far and wide. Later landlords deprived of their lands also joined it to uproot the British Raj.

The fight for freedom also ignited the anguish of former rulers like Begum Hazrat whose estate was confiscated. Maulvi Ahmedulla of Faizabad motivated the fellow countrymen to rage war against oppressors.

The voices of rebellion also rose from every nook and comer be it Lucknow, Bareilly, Kanpur, Allahabad and many more. The rulers like Azimulla Khan, Tatya Tope, Peshwa Nana Sahab organized themselves to face the wrath of British rule.

The fighters were the patrons of the sovereignty of India. They stood fast to their aspiration to give a tough fight to the onslaughters who had taken away their motherland and exploiting every means to make money.

No wonder eighty-year-old Kunwar Singh of Bihar hit by a bullet laid his life for liberating his land.

The opening conversation reveals the location of the Tillo’s father’s office. He went to his work station by passing through an underground passage. Tilloo and many others wanted to know about the passage. He was snubbed by his mother at such queries.

One day Tilloo’s father was relaxing at home. Tilloo got his security card and entered the forbidden passage, fie crossed the metal door by security card usually as his father.

It opened in a bright passage which took him to the surface of the planet. Tilloo was hopeful that he would see the sun or the stars. But his movements were detected.

His pictures were taken up and sent to the Central Bureau. He was brought back to his home by the security staff. His mother rebuked him but his father tried to brief him.

He said that an ordinary person couldn’t breathe on the surface as the air is too thin to breathe and secondly the temperature is freezing.

Tilloo inquired ‘how did he manage to survive’ Daddy replied that he wore a well equipped special suit with a reservoir of oxygen. His boots were specially designed to walk on the surface along with special training to survive.

He added that the hoarsening conditions pushed them to live underground and before that their forefathers lived on the surface. Sun, turned hostile, it no longer was supportive and upset the balance of nature.

Bird’s animals and fishes became extinct one by one. But humans, managed through artificial conditions. Those machines needed maintaining for proper functioning. Tilloo was trilled and asked his father if he could join him when he grows up.

On the next day, the control room was crowded around the TV screen. They discovered that a black dot that appeared on the screen was approaching towards them. It was a spacecraft.

From the archives at Central Bureau. Tilloo’s father had learned that their ancestors had a well-developed space program. They had searched the solar system with manned and unmanned spacecraft and found that they were alone.

But at this stage when they do not have enough energy they could not have any space program.

The conference room was full but the members of the Central Committee were quiet as they know that the president would make an announcement at any moment.

President asked for the views of the members about the approaching spacecraft. He declared that one was orbiting their planet and others were still far off. He asked for views of number one.

Who was in charge of defense, known for his courage and wisdom? He said that destroying the spacecraft with missiles won’t be a wiser idea. He offered that they should allow the spacecraft to land.

They could destroy from there easily and secondly these didn’t contain living beings.

President then moved to number two for his opinion. He advised non-interference and passive observation. He did not want to reveal their existence. Number three, a social scientist agreed with number two. President was then informed about the landing of the first spacecraft.

Then canoe a memorable day is Tilloo’s life. His father took him to the control room from where he could see the alien spacecraft on a TV screen. Tilloo enquired about the spacecraft to which he replied that they would observe the movements of it from a distance.

He pointed towards a panel of buttons and said that they would take action only if anything suspicious observed. Tilloo noticed a mechanical hand coming out of the spacecraft.

Its movement was watched eagerly when it bent to touch the soil. Then unexpectedly Tilloo pressed the red button and shrill voice came out of it. Everyone was shocked and his father tried to control the situation. But its impact was irreversible.

NASA held a press conference, a scientist reported that. The mechanical hand had developed a Malfunction during diggings out the Martian soul for examination and technicians were confident to sort the same.

Another press release from NASA that the mechanical hand had started functioning again. After soil testing, the possibility of life on Mars would be detected. However, the Viking mission ended in disappointment as Mars did not have any signs of life.

Expectations of life on Mars were expected as it were closest to earth and physical conditions were similar to the earth.
