Once upon a time, there was a peasant who had seven sons and plenty of land. One day when he woke up, he found that he was blind. Many doctors were called to treat his blindness but nobody could cure him. One day, a faqir (saint) visited the place and told him if he would rub the ash of a particular fish in his eyes, he would get back his sight. The old man told this to his sons but all the six sons were scared. They decided to send their youngest brother to search for the particular fish.
In spite of many obstacles, he managed to reach the remote ocean and caught the fish, but the fish pleaded to throw it back into the water for which she promised to help the young man by all means. The man told the fish about his father’s blindness. The fish told him to take some sand and touch it with its eyelids and then touch it to the eyelids of his father.
The young man went back and did the same and the old man’s eyesight restored. All the brothers were jealous of him because they thought that the father would give his entire wealth to him. They forced their younger brother to go back and to bring the eyes of that fish. The younger brother had to set out on his journey again. On the way, he met a buck who was running to save its life from hunters. The young man hid him in a ditch. The buck promised to help him any time when required and went away. After that he met a jackal and he saved him from hunters. He was then tired enough and wanted some rest and food. He reached a palace where lived a beautiful princess who had a magic mirror. She could see the reflection of anybody in the mirror.
