Kabir Das (1398–1451) was great Bhakti poet in India. He was a weaver by profession. He openly criticised the cast system and other evils of the contemporary society. He had love for God. He thought that all men are equal before the eye’s of God.

Of Remembering God Poem Summary in English
In this poem, Kabir Das is of the opinion that all people remember God when they are in grief and sorrow. On the other hand in happiness and riches nobody remembers God. But the poet says that if one remembers. God in happiness, one can never be in sorrow. The poet is of the view that one who is dead is never in grief because he does not come from the grave to weep, because the grave is a permanent house and he is in peace there.
The poet advised to pray God to sing the glory of God. He says that one who sleeps is greatly damaged. He says that if the sound of thunder is heard even Brahma’s thrown starts to shake. In other words when time comes nobody can be safe.
Kabir advised men to accept Ram. Ram is the only Almighty God. He who leaves Ram is a son without father. It means Ram is only the Father.
Kabir says that the name of Ram is a treasure. He asked people to loot this treasure as much as they can loot because one day God of death will come and the men will go forever.
In the last but one stanza Kabir has described the importance of Guru Both Guru and God are standing side by side. The poet is confused to whom he should pray. But it is greatness of Guru that he gave an indication to God. The poet is obliged to Guru and prays him because God has told him to do so.
Kabir says that if God does not help and he is in sulks, I will go to the shelter of the Guru. But he is very sorry that if Guru is in the sulks God will not help him. It means that a man should respect his Guru. Only when God will be happy.

प्रस्तुत कविता कबीर द्वारा रचित “सुख में सुमिरन सब करें” कविता का अंगरेजी अनुवाद है। इसका अंगरेजी अनुवाद मोहन सिंह कार्की ने किया है।
इस कविता में कबीर दास का कहना है कि लोग ईश्वर को दुख में याद करते हैं। दूसरे शब्दों में, सुख में कोई भी ईश्वर कारे याद नहीं करता है। लेकिन कवि का कहना है जो सुख में ईश्वर को याद करता है वह कभी दुखी नहीं हो सकता। कवि का विचार है कि वह व्यक्ति जो दुनिया से चला गया वह कभी दुखी नहीं होता क्योंकि वह कब्र से उठकर रोने के लिए नहीं आता।
कब्र उसके लिए स्थाई घर है और वह वहाँ शान्ति से है। कबीर लोगों को ईश्वर की भक्ति एवं उनकी महानता की गुणगाथा करने का सुझाव देता है। उसका कहना है जो व्यक्तिा सोता है वह सबकुछ खोता है। उनका कहना है कि बिजली की कड़क ब्रह्मा की गद्दी को भी हिला देता है। दूसरे शब्दों में समय आने पर कोई भी सुरक्षित नहीं है। कबीरदास ईश्वर को अपनाने की सलाह देते हैं। जो ईश्वर को नहीं अपनाता बिना पिता का पुत्र है अर्थात् राम ही एक मात्र पिता हैं। कबीर का कहना है राम नाम एक खजाना है जितना लूटना हो व्यक्ति को इस खजाना को लूटना चाहिए क्योंकि एक दिन मृत्यु आएगी और मनुष्य सदा के लिए चला जाएगा।
कवि ने अपनी कविता में गुरु की महानता पर प्रकाश डाला है। गुरु और ईश्वर आस-पास खड़े हैं। कवि नहीं समझ पाता कि वह किसका चरण स्पर्श करे। लेकिन यह गुरु की प्रार्थना करता है क्योंकि ईश्वर ने उसे ऐसा करने को कहा।
कवि का कहना है कि अगर ईश्वर सहातया न करें और वह उदासीन हो जाएँ तो वह गुरु के शरण में जाएगा। लेकिन तब वह बहुत दुखी होगा, जब गुरु ही उदासीन हो जाएँ। ईश्वर आपकी सहायता नहीं कर सकता। इसका अर्थ यह है कि सभी को अपने गुरु का आदर करना चाहिए। तभी भगवान खुश होंगे।
