The lesson is a story of two young detectives who were inquisitive about a man who was polite, a recluse with health problems. Nishad’s mother, a doctor by profession knew the man as a patient.

They persistently searched for evidence against him. However, these were more imaginary than incriminating. There dedication, curiosity is obvious in their acts. The narrator recounts the early childhood days of her.

Expert Detectives Part 1 Summary of the Lesson

The opening lines are conversations between Maya and Seven. Seven’s real name was Nishad and was seven years old whereas Maya was a ten years old girl. There lived a person with suspicious activities.

They were curious to know about him. The person might be a poor or a crook on the run. Nishad was apprehensive but for Maya, he was the culprit he must have hid the treasure.

They discussed about his food habits and his work. Nishad firmly told that the scars on his face were bum marks.

One day seven visited Mr. Nath along with his mother and Maya went to spend time with her school friend. He was upset to see the ill health of Mr. Nath. In the evening, Seven knocked at his door but couldn’t sneak peek into the trunk.

He gave him a chocolate bar. Then he went to Ramesh who brought the meals from restaurants, he, in turn, informed about his routine and special demand for food on Sundays as he had a visitor that day.

Mr. Nath pays for his food which includes chappatis, dal, and vegetables. Maya inquired with her detective instincts. She was arguing about the deceptive looks of crooks. The next day, because of the heavy rain they had an unexpected break from school. She sat down with a piece of paper.

Expert Detectives Part 2 Summary of the Lesson

She began writing in block letters ‘Catching a Crook’ Expert detectives. After writing for half an hour, she turned to her brother, who was studying in bed. She asked him to listen to, what she wrote down.

When he nodded, she spoke about listed facts that needed to be enquired of Mr. Nath, Nishad, on the other hand, wasn’t attentive at all. He sympathized with his being lonely, and without friends.

When she talked about the visitor to be the accomplice of Mr. Nath, Nishad reiterated that he didn’t like her idea. He talked about generosity for paying tips to Ramesh. The narrator persistently accused him of hiding and birding.

Constant nagging about Mr. Nath infuriated Nishad. He did not want Mr. Nath to be a victim of circumstances that made him a recluse. The thought led to an argument and Nishad went out without surrendering to the ideas of the narrator.
