(i) Sugarcane (a product of primary sector), is a raw product to the sugar mill (secondary sector). The services of transport and communication are necessary to supply these products to the shopkeepers (tertiary sector).
Without any one of activities, the whole journey from raw material to final product will be affected, and it could not reach to us.
(ii) Raw cotton (from primary sector), is raw material to the textile industry (secondary sector). The services of transport and communication (tertiary sector) are essential for supplying these products to the shopkeepers (tertiary sector).

Question 1.
What is the primary sector? How is it different from the secondary sector? Give two examples.
Answer:
The primary sector includes all those activities that directly depend on natural resources.: agriculture, mining, forestry, fishing etc. ,
The secondary sector companies are those that are involved in manufacturing, construction and processing. These companies produce goods that use the resources obtained from companies within the primary sector: Manufacturing of steel, cement, automobiles, readymade garments, etc.
For example, production of cotton from cotton seeds by a farmer is a primary activity whereas production of cloth from cotton mills is a secondary activity.
Similarly, the cultivation/farming of sugarcane is a primary activity whereas the production of sugar from sugarcane is a secondary activity.
Question 2.
How does the secondary sector depend on the tertiary sector? Illustrate with a few examples.
Answer:
The secondary sector depends on the tertiary sector for services such as transportation and retail. For instance, factories rely on trucks to deliver raw materials and finished products, while stores help sell these products to customers, ensuring smooth distribution and sales.
